Elective Home Education.

Introduction

Elective home education is where parents or guardians decide to provide education for their children at home instead of sending them to school. It is NOT home tuition provided by a local education authority or where a local education authority provides education in an alternative placement. The parent is responsible for deciding what the child learns and for funding any resources required.

Home-educated children are those who, for a range of reasons, are being educated at home and in the community by parents, guardians, carers or tutors, and are NOT registered full time at mainstream schools or other educational establishments.
